2024 TOURNAMENT SET. WHO WILL CLAIM THE CHAMPIONSHIP?

The last week of the regular season proved to be pivotal for seeding in the tournament. Kevin Prigge and Ryan Egan snuck in the back door and claimed the regular season championship and the #1 overall seed for the tournament. Team Dill Pickle took a tumble from #1 to #3 after back-to-back losses to close the season. The rest of the field is playing at a high level but as this tournament has shown in the past, anything can happen on any given Wednesday.

Can anyone catch Team Dill Pickle?

As newcomers to the league, Corey Dill and Kody Rosenhagen were immediate contenders but no one thought they would put together a first half season like they have.

Despite a small hiccup in week 2 (a tie match against Schulte / Pangallo), no one has been able to hand Team Dill Pickle a loss yet this season. They currently lead the team standings with 23 total points. There are 4 teams right behind them sitting at 19. If a team doesn’t beat them in the coming weeks they could run away with the regular season championship and overall #1 seed for the Albatross League Cup. The back end of their schedule provide opportunities for a speed bump or two but the way Kody has been hitting off the tee and Corey has been playing around the greens, they will provide a tough match for anyone.

PRIGGE PUSHES THROUGH Despite suffering brutal injury

Last week after returning home from a great round of golf, Mark Prigge was looking to continue the good vibes. He looked to pour himself a cocktail when all of sudden, while preparing his Mojito, he received a splinter from his muddler stick.
” The pain was overwhelming, I thought I would be out a few weeks, but after talking with my family and my swing coach, I decided it was best to push through the injury.”, Mark said.

He would go on to record a 41 in week 5 but feels like he could have easily shot 29. Prigge said, “I think in a couple weeks with the extensive rehab regimen that my team has in place and the support of my family, I should be back at full strength.”.

5 VETERANS LEAVE THE ALBATROSS LEAGUE FOR GREENER FAIRWAYS

It’s a day we all knew would come, the day where some members of the Albatross League would leave for other opportunities, we just didn’t think there would be a sort of exodus like we saw before the 2024 season began.

The departure of Heister and Maloney as well as Kellinghaus and Jansen we’re enough to do a double take as both groups have been in the league since its inception and both were fantastic groups to have in the league, however, the departure of former President and Founder Kenny Collopy really threw everyone for a loop. Some compared it to the first retirement of MJ, others speculated Kenny got an absolute BAG from the LIV Tour, only time will tell. His former (golf) partner and brother Pat Collopy said, “I wish the best for Kenny and hope he enjoys Highland Country Club. It ain’t no Hickory or Albatross League but sometimes you have to make tough choices. I for one, will be a better golfer without him chirping in my ear after every shot.”

As we move on to year 10 of the league we welcome some new faces. The team of Corey Dill and Kody Rosenhagen will be a great fit and provide some competitive matches as well as long-time sub Brennen DeVoto and his partner Aaron Speier (AKA AAron). Pat Collopy will replace Kenny with another long-time sub in Wes Diehl. We look forward to having these gentleman join the League and look forward to many matches in the years to come.
