U.S. Ryder Cup Team Dressed for Success

Ralph Lauren is outfitting the U.S. Ryder Cup team this week in Paris .

All-American fashion brand Ralph Lauren has once again partnered with the PGA of America to outfit the U.S. Ryder Cup Team with uniforms, outerwear, and tailored clothing at Le Golf National in Paris, France.

The American’s apparel script calls for a powerful and patriotic palette of red, white, and blue presented in the form of modern stripes and sporty color blocking. The pieces in the collection are accented with patriotic logos, graphics, and other Americana-inspired details. Not only will Team USA be looking its best in Ralph Lauren’s stylish threads, but it will be prepared for a variety of conditions with the brand’s innovative performance fabrics.

FRIDAY

Friday sees Captain Jim Furyk’s crew in a contemporary take on classic stripes with this navy blue and white polo. The feathery airflow jersey polo features moisture-wicking properties and was ergonomically designed for an optimal swing radius. Hits of red on the inner placket and tipping of the collar add pops of personality to the ensemble. Players will the pair the polo with a crisp white trouser for an exceptionally clean look from head to toe. (Yes, white pants after Labor Day are perfectly acceptable.) For added inspiration, ‘United We Stand’ is printed on the inner waistband and ‘USA’ is adorned on the lower right legs of all the pants in the collection.

SATURDAY

The Americans get down to business in a sophisticated pinstripe trouser on Saturday. Pinstripes have long been a symbol of America’s power and prosperity and the U.S team will be looking to channel those positive vibes into a dominant second day showing. The United States players are no strangers to pinstripes in the Ryder Cup. They sported pinstripe pants in 2014 and 2016. To complete the look, Ralph Lauren designed a polo with a contrasting Taffeta collar and four-button placket for a retro feel. The simplicity of this polo allows the focus to fall on the bold pinstripe pants.

SUNDAY

Sunday’s kit is all about subtle details. In fact, the design of the polo isn’t as simple as it appears. At a distance, this polo wears like a solid. At close range, though, it comes to life with rows of debossed stars that form wide stripes. Similar to Friday’s polo, splashes of red on the collar and the inner placket make a strong statement for the singles matches. As with all the polos in the collection, the right sleeve is embroidered with an American flag and the back yolk is adorned with ‘USA’ in a horizontal treatment.

OUTERWEAR

While the polos and pants create fashionable looks for the U.S. Team, the highlights of the collection are the outwear pieces. There is no shortage of layering options as Ralph Lauren is supplying the team with everything from lightweight pullovers and Merino sweaters to fleece vests and insulated jackets. Three pieces are likely to be go-to's for the players. First, for those preferring the comfort of a sweater, is a wool crewneck with white stripes on the sleeves and a red stripe across the chest. It offers a modern and sporty look. Second is a color blocked, full-zip jacket with an insulated front to keep the core warm and performance fabric on the sleeves and back for playability. Third is a navy brushed back pullover with a trendy camo print that was inspired by the layout of Le Golf National.
