T.J. Vogel has done it again. The former U.S. Amateur Public Links champion has Monday qualified for his seventh event of the season. A Military Tribute at The Greenbrier will give Vogel another opportunity to earn the non-member FedExCup points necessary to qualify for the Web.com Tour Finals.
This was the sixth time Vogel shot the low score in the qualifier.
Vogel has now surpassed the impressive Monday qualifying performance put together by Masters champion Patrick Reed, who qualified for six events in 2012. Austin Cook, winner of this season’s The RSM Classic, qualified for five events in the calendar years of 2014 and 2015.
Vogel has made the cut in half of his six starts this season, highlighted by a T16 at the Valspar Championship.
Another qualifier, Chase Seiffert, will play at Greenbrier after finishing T9 at the Travelers Championship. Seiffert won the Travelers’ qualifier with a 63. He closed the tournament with a 64 to crack the top 10 and earn another TOUR start. The same mindset that helped him have success in the qualifier also helped him shoot a strong final round.
He treated Sunday at TPC River Highlands like “my Monday qualifier for Greenbrier.
“I went out and tried to attack,” said Seiffert, who shot a front-nine 30 in the Travelers Championship’s final round.
Here’s a closer look at the players who will try to replicate Seiffert’s success this week.
